Degica is a digital e-commerce solutions provider in Tokyo, and a unique company in a lot of ways. We sit at the intersection of markets: conservative Japan on the one side, and the rest of the world – fast-paced, ever-changing and with all its diversity – on the other. This gives us a unique vantage point on local and global markets and presents a unique set of challenges, both in growing our business and in building our technology.

As the name of this blog implies, Degica also sits at the intersection of commerce and technology. Being at that intersection means that we deal with concrete, real-world problems, problems with a direct and immediate impact on the bottom line. The challenge of building software solutions to these difficult problems is what inspired this blog.

In line with our goal of connecting Japan and the world, this blog is published in both English and Japanese, for local and international readers, with distinct but overlapping content. We’re excited about reaching out to readers in both languages to explore the systems and code powering e-commerce, payments and much else besides. Stay tuned.
